Growth Across the Triangle Area
North Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The weather is moderate, the cost of living is reasonable, and the school system has consistently been lauded across the country. It’s no wonder people from all over the country come to settle in the Triangle area.
Listed as #4 in Forbes list of top 20 Fastest Growing Cities the Country, Raleigh is a hubbub of activity and growth.
In 2014 Wake county reached the 1million mark. The county continues to grow by 63 people per day.
Wake County is projected to reach 2 million residents by 2054.
The increased population has not come without its challenges. Still lacking in major transportation, residents rely heavily on their own vehicles for commuting to work. The average commute is now about 25 minutes. This influx of vehicles on the road means Wake County suffers from low air quality. According to the EPA, Wake County consistently ranks among the top counties in the number of unhealthy air quality days per year.
The population also threatens some of the natural beauty that makes North Carolina unique. The Triangle area alone is projected to lose up to 37% of its natural habitat by 2027 unless some sort of legislative action is taken.
In the State of the City Address in March Mayor Nancy McFarlane stated:
“There are a lot of things we cannot control. But we can continue to work together to find that common thread and create the kind of community that we want to call home.”
The Triangle area is indeed home to millions of residents creating a vibrant, artistic, business community that SERVPRO® of North Raleigh & Wake Forest is proud to call home.
